Stainless Steel Tea Kettles

Drinking tea after a hectic day is a popular pastime indulged by many people worldwide. It is said to relax and soothe the nerves and also has oxidizing agents that are good for the wellbeing of the human body. A tea kettle is a part and parcel of this tea drinking ritual. There are many types of tea kettles made from various materials but stainless steel tea kettles are among the most popular. Stainless tea kettles can be of traditional stove top heated type or the more recent electric coil heated type. This article discusses some of the reasons that make stainless tea kettles so popular.

Durability

Stainless steel tea kettles are highly durable and long lasting. They are corrosion resistant unlike cast iron kettles. Corrosion occurs because of chemical reaction between iron and oxygen in the presence of moisture in the atmosphere through the formation of rust. Because stainless steel is a high grade alloy containing carbon and chromium, it is resistant to rust.

Fire and heat resistant

Stainless steel kettles can withstand high temperatures and are ideal for boiling water. Since they are good conductors of heat, water boils faster in stainless steel tea kettles compared to cast iron kettles. There will not be any hard to remove scale formation in them even if accidentally over heated.

Easy to clean

Stainless steel kettles are easy to clean and maintain. Unlike cast iron tea kettles, they do not have any rust formation and hence no complex cleaning methods need to be used. Their smooth surface without any crevices or cracks prohibits formation of germs and bacteria that makes them safe to use.

Aesthetic appearance

Stainless steel tea kettles have lustrous appearance that they maintain even after many years of use. Their attractive looks with shining bright surface add to the charm of a modern kitchen. Some stainless tea kettles have enameled steel body which enhances their appearance. The handle is usually made of insulating material in order to protect the hand from the heat of the kettle body. The material used for the handle may be plastic, phenol, wood, nylon etc. Unlike kettles of other metals like copper, aluminum or even brass, a little wipe with a moist cloth periodically is all that is needed to keep a stainless steel tea kettle good looking.

Lightweight

Stainless steel tea kettles are relatively light in weight compared to other metallic kettles. They weigh around 2 kg normally making it easy to carry them around the house. Glass kettles are lighter than stainless steel kettles of course, but the latter scores over the former in many other aspects. Hence overall stainless steel tea kettles are worth a buy.
