No. While Depeche Mode doesn't like to give the meaning of their songs so that people have their own interpretations, Gore revealed that this song was written about how he thought his divorce might have affected his children. It's a pretty powerful song.

Although I am no longer an avid Depeche Mode fan, I can honestly say that this song is beautiful. And while I almost never watch music videos anymore, I can say that this video is definitely a work of art.
