I was born in 1953 in the south. I never saw anyone who had a "mammy". There were maids but they were paid for their work. The Civil Rights Movement in the 1960's had nothing to do with the pay scale for mammy's.

You can hate America because this country has a histroy of fearing anything thats different and treating minorities like shit. Don't get sentimental here. Musical greats like Ella fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong may be lauded now, but were deeply segregated against and treated like second class citizens in their day, as all black people were.
