That's something that i watched and it made me step back and just think to myself how amazing people are. And that you should never judge a book by it's cover. I'm a 22 year old guy and i consider myself a pretty tough guy but at the part when he hit the big notes and the card was cheering i have to admit i teared up a little bit. Truly amazing

imdkleine, I'm not sure how "15 minutes" can fade faster than. . uh. . 15 minutes, but with 103 concerts, numerous other appearances, a best-selling CD worldwide, and another due out in the spring, Paul's already well past the "flash in the pan" short-lived fame you predict.

pblock, until he got sick and then got injured, Paul put every cent he could afford into lessons and every spare moment into performing in amateur (semi-pro) productions. To me, that does not equal "overnight success." Full marks to the "gifted and hardworking professionals" who somehow had the luck and/or resources to work at it full time, though, because, to me, liking one singer does not mean disliking another.

debbie44, Paul recorded a Christmas album but because of his album success in Germany and demands on his time it will not be released. The next album will be out in the Spring and I would assume Paul will also have a Christmas album in 2009.

Paul has improved quite a bit since this audition. He hadn't taken lessons or sung in public the four years prior to BGT.Passion may not make a great singer but it sure is beneficial to a great entertainer.

As an opera fan, I can agree with you to a certain extent. Potts is no Pavarotti. But give him some credit...hes pretty good for a newbie. I bet Pav didn't start out a legend either. If it helps, a lifetime of hardwork will win out a lucky break in the end. Pavarotti will be remembered for centuries to come as an operatic master. Potts' 15 mins of fame will fade sooner than you may think.

All of you people that think Paul Potts is even comparable to Pavarotti are complete and total morons. Paul Potts has potential and talent, not training and skill. It sickens me that overnight superstars like Potts get such attention, whereas truly gifted and hardworking professionals get overlooked. The ignorance of the general community when it comes to opera is quite sad. Passion does not a great singer make.
