Agree completely. Completely devoid of the feeling necessary for a song like this.

Hit the nail on the head - this reminds a bit of the disco era when they made those horrible "dance mixes" of great rock songs.

People differ in their opinions about whether Joni's version is better. All I say is that this is different. I love it. Heard this version first on the soundtrack for "Strawberry Statement," and played it over and over. I still have that album. This woman's voice is totally unique. She's an artist regardless of what anyone says.

Complete destruction of an extremely beautiful song.

The mix on this BSM recording is off on this youtube sound, but far from corny, it rocks with magic and Buffy's incomparable vocals (which joni practiced so hard to cop along with her Baez and Collins imitations-per joni herself)take it to the sky. Joni's interminable version is sadly very dated. Roberta (aka Joni) would have been better of coping Buffy's arrangement as she widely choose to do with her cover of Buffy's original recording of JM's excellent composition "SONG TO A SEAGUL".

Boring campfire version?...perhaps but at least Joni's version doesn't sound like an "Up With People" sing along.

I'm reminded of what Jules said in Pulp Fiction: Allow me to retort! For me, it's Joni, mate ... that's all I'm saying. |
