No not at allIf you actually see it you spend just about half and half watching the actor and puppet.They compliment each other beautifully. The actors provide subtle changes in emotion and provide slight facial cues. On the other hand (literally) the puppets can do something humans can't: they can exaggerate. The quick retractions of the hand provide better explosive emotion as opposed to real moves. Plus the puppets are such eye catchers; you won't spend lots of time watching the humans.

Everybody has there own likes but with you telling my what they are doing I still can't see the point of it.I now know there not trying to be ventriloquists but you see ventriloquists like Jeff Dunham who has pupets but he stays as himself and he makes the most amazing character in the pupets, I don't know why they don't do that because they would get a bigger audience.Anyway thanks for answering my question.
