Since eskrima or arnis is more on weaponry, you can use any weapons like umbrella, whip, thin stick (patpat in Tagalog), nightstick from the cops or military police, etc.

thanks, I only know the staff, and it is heavier in the middle. 2 different weapons though. I am thinking of carving out my own weapons as a hobby, that Is why I asked

Oh, and we are talking about escrima here...and the fact that it is an intregal part of Filipino history, dance, language, survival and that more and more Pinoys seem to lack any knowledge of it etc.dont fight your own out of ignorance. Rather agree with me that it would have been nice if you yourself knew somethin about ur original heritage and that you are proud to be a Filipino..If you are? that is.The problem is Filipinos have n identity crisis cos they rather b anything else but True Pinoy.
doink3 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
What is worst is that Pinoys have no shame in putting down their own pinoys in public even when the effort was made for them. That is the truth and you're an example.

You dont get my point because> You are a Typical Westernized Pinoy who has difficulty meeting other pinoys who wish to preserve their country's heritage(You are, the status Quo that needs to be changed)..Filipinos love to quarrel and put down their own Filipinos when they present an ideal. All Asians regard Filipinos as less because Pinoys fail to set a standard,Pinoys fail to follow ideals or respect efforts made.THey rather colaborate with a richer nation than take pride in their own.

I dont get ur point.Pinoys (or any People) will do what they want. You make it sound like its mandatory for Pilipinos to learn FMA.Maybe if ur lineage demands it.And if we dont are we ignorant?Preserving our Culture can be done not just through FMA,But History,Dance,Music,Food,Etc..And with the world evolving, including weaponry,I dont blame our youth for being gamers, tuners, surfers, breakers, whatever.Training FMA is for the selected few, dont force it on anyone.

is the stick weighted the same, all the way though?
