uh, you've never had someone charge at you? I know I have and using something similar to this, the guy nearly went through a store window. Think dude, think.

Aikido and dancin have abolutely nothing in common. But I can see why you say somthing like that after watching this idiot. If you want to see some real aikido in action search for Steven Seagal, even if he's a crap actor, he's good at aikido and he will definately demonstrate better than this jackass.

i agree, this technique would be successful if you would be attacked by a real person who really tries to hit you(And if you weren't a total retard like this guy). What I was saying was that no one would attack someone like that and it is therefore just stupid to practice techniques in such an unreal situation, if perfored correctly this move would definately work.

actually, that technique would be successfull in similar attacks.eg, a left hook or straight punch or even an uppercut.Actually the uppercut defense would be harder to accomplish but would most likely break the arm.So it would be effective if successful.

YEAH.. i think it's best combinations are with jiu jitsu and kendo..

BEGINNERS!?
Cylleruion87 (June 8, 2008 at 9:38 pm)
*sigh* I grow tired of telling people that these attacks in Aikido aren't the end-all.To learn at technique, you must learn the rudiments first. That means you can't come out swinging. The name of this video is "Aikido Moves for BEGINNERS". It shows the basics of the techniques. LATER, after you understand and can execute the movements, will you add the actual punches, as we do in my dojo.
