Last I heard the "British" Isles covered the UK we managed to get the Free State last century even if we had to force the hand of the colonial forces to do it. Get over yourself it's not the word "British" but the English assumption that we would want association with it that ticks people off outside the police state you have to live in...

tgalway, your last comment reveals your anti British attitude. Try googling British Isle, you'll see I'm correct. Some you Irish are so prejudiced you can't stand the idea of having the word Brtitish anywhere near you.
