"I call my method meditation, but it is, in fact, a technique of self-exploration. It enables a person to dive into the innermost reaches of their being, in which dwells the essence of life and the source of all wisdom, all creativity, all peace, and all happiness." - Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Transcendental Meditation ProgramThe TM technique is a very simple, natural and effortless procedure that is practiced for twenty minutes, twice a day, while sitting comfortably with the eyes closed. The TM technique is not a religion, a philosophy or a way of life, and it does not involve any effort, discipline, concentration, contemplation, behavioral modification or positive thinking.During the TM technique, the mind settles down and experiences a unique state of "restful alertness." As the mind settles down, the body also settles down and experiences a very natural state of profound rest, allowing for the release of accumulated deep stress and fatigue and a revitalization of the entire nervous system. For more info, go to: http://www.tm.orgNOTE: This is not an instructional video.

I've been doing TM for the last 34 yrs and all I can say is that is has been a great experience everytime I sit down to meditate. Now, TM has become commercialized to the point I reject anything TM and this particular video 'does not' do justice to the technique; thru it one can achieve 'silence' and feel 'awaken' after meditating 20 mins. "Yogasta Kuru Karmani" Stablished in the Self, perform (Right) Action. Jai Guru Dev

Sounds interesting. However, it is important to really do some research to validate any form of "education"- I studied years ago and am still not completely convinced. I also like to hear from people who experienced the contrary for example. But good watching, thks!

Also, for a more intellectual understanding of TM, you can read Maharishi's "Science of Being and Art of Living." It's all about the reality of life and the purpose of life. A real eye-opener. Simple to read and understand. There's nothing mystical at all about what Maharishi is saying. You'll find everything quite familiar, because it's all very natural to life. That's what amazed and convinced me - how simple, natural and familiar it all was.

Sorry if it comes off like an infomercial. I hear ya'. But believe it or not, this type of testimonial approach has proved to be very popular and comfortable with a lot of folks. But rest assured, we are working to replace it with a new one. It is in the works. And it won't be an infomercial style. But try to look beyond this current style, because the content provides a good understanding of what TM is about. Also, the people are real with real experiences, not actors.Thanks.
