It wouldn't matter if you had your hands up or not, you catch a spinning kick with that much velocity and your going to have a broken hand or a fractured arm, and most of the force is still going to transfer through.

must be no face strikes in these matches, althought that would make sense considering karate's open hand face strikes to eyes, temples noses etc, still half these guys didnt have their hands protecting their faces which explains the number of kicks landing on the face.
