Tai Chi Chuan is a form of 'kung fu' that is practiced slowly for mastery of the movements. In practical application for self-defense, the movements can be extremely fast, explosive, and whip-like. The velocity attained in the self-defense application of Tai Chi is due to the relaxation of the body. When the body is free of excess tension, it can move incredibly fast.

Tai Chi is about going with the flow, and kinna being peacefull. Unlike kung fu it's all about anger i tihkn and using that anger against the other. In Tai Chi it it using others anger and power against them selfs. That's why when you see Tai Chi in a fight, it doesn't use many kicks. Mainly elbows and moveing. Kinna like water. I know this sounds silly but if u seen avatar my little brother watches it, the water bender people do tai Chi. I kinna like to think like im moving water when u doit:)
