your normal dude don't worry, depending on what you play though, I would stick with the tens, if you want a fat tone you have to play heavy strings.

A bit too much talking. But thats just my opinion but you are very good good at bending the strings.

I agree with you jmtt77. If all you want is a diagram, chart, tabs, or whatever then buy a book or google it. The whole point of a lesson is to explain the why's & hows and subtle nuances of actually playing. If your advanced and impatient then within the first 2 mins he's shown you all 5 licks the video covers -done -. now head off and start transcribing BBK, MW, SRV, EC or who ever you dig.

Another little trick that many blues players use, is Eb tuning. It's exactly the same as standard tuning except that all your strings are tuned down 1 semi tone. It just takes a bit of the tension off of the strings so they're easier to bend, and the risk of breaking them also is reduced. You might get more fret buzzing if you play too hard or you have a very low action, but it's not that big an issue for blues since you're not attacking the strings so aggressively.Try it out

I agree, sometimes talk is better than show. And this is the case with most of Justin's lessons. The thing I really like about these videos is no matter how long you've been playing, you can come back and watch them again and still get something more from it.

nah that's normal. =) try and switch to .09 gauge. it's a little easier to bend, but will hurt more in the beginning.p.s. the reason it's friggin hard, is because you're doing it right. yes you are a little weak, but your fingers will get stronger the more you practice.cheers mate.

Justin,I disagree with the "too much talk" haters. That was just the right amount of explanation. And your example licks give a much better sense of how to make pentatonic minor sound bluesy than any other videos I've seen thus far. Nice job. |
