well actually why the government "is spending billions of dollars killing people" is because the country wants to remain a intimidating threat as a superpower-lose that status and territories will be challenged 1 by 1-but so what if you defend it, is that piece of land worth thousands of troops' lives? Is that status worth the sheer amount of grief? Is that money well spent? if only people could stop being so selfish and aim at helping people in poorer countries with that money spent on war
