Did you know that the cabinets we use at our homes have different names? These home fixtures are given names according to their uses, or the places where they are prominently displayed.

These furniture pieces are given high value because of their exceptional craftsmanship, quality of finish, and the materials used in their construction. These pieces of furniture include bureaus, consoles, armoires, book cases, wardrobes, dressers, and chests.

Dressers, also called vanity cabinets, consist of a low chest of six to seven drawer varieties, and supported by a large mirror.

Cabinetry is one of the different forms of furniture according to their usage and purpose. Cabinets for storage include bookcases, furniture cabinet

s, chests, cupboards, dressers, sideboards, and wardrobe. Those for seating include benches, couches, chairs, sofas, recliners, and ottomans. Surface furniture includes coffee tables, and desks.

Woodworking, or cabinetry, is a practice that spans across time and different cultures. It is the process of applying woodworking skills to construct furniture pieces, cabinets, and shelves. This process requires excellent crafts skills like creating joints, shelves, and decorative edges, and using mechanized tools such as routers.

In the 18th century, cabinet makers were responsible for the conception and construction of their furniture pieces. With industrialization came the use of electrical power for tools used in cabinetry which made the skill easier. These furniture pieces were eventually introduced in the mass market.

Later on, the demands for these decorative pieces increased in most industrialized countries. Today, woodworking and cabinetry are popular skills among hobbyists. Though inexperienced, their pieces are exceptional that they could rival the creations of professional cabinet makers.

Cabinets are usually constructed from hard wood, and applied with finishing touches for protection and extended durability. These fixtures provide storage, and hold small household items such as books, tools, clothes, and food.

Cabinets can also be created artistically and is already accepted as a form of decorative art. Some pieces are created in combination with other household fixtures; such that a dresser table can have a built-in chair or foot rest, or a bookcase can contain drawers and open shelves.

Like other cabinet types, dressers are priced for their exceptional design. They are created in a wide range of design concepts, from utilitarian to art deco pieces. Dressers come in different designs, using different wood types, catering to the varying tastes and demands of their potential users.

Traditionally, dressers were used for storing clothes and other personal items. They are decorative as well as functional. Dressers can also serve a religious or symbolic purpose.

We can display personal keepsakes on our dressers where they are visible to us and hold our beauty products too. We can even use our table dressers for writing or computing.

Today, dressers are usually favored by women because of their use. These furniture items are very useful to them because they can serve them more than what they were originally created for. It is with the reason that one can store not only clothes but other personal grooming items as well that these cabinets were called "vanity cabinets".

It has been said that women are vain and love to look at their faces for long periods of time, so dressers place prominently in almost every woman's bedroom or wardrobe. They contain items such as cosmetics, toiletries, and fashion accessories, things that every woman in the world can't do without.
