Grief is one of those words that if you were asked to describe it may be difficult. However, describing the emotions behind grief and what you are feeling is something that many of us can relate to and have experienced in our own lives. There are different stages of grief and many go through what has been coined the grieving process after having suffered a loss of one type or another. Not to be mistaken with depression, grieving is a normal part of life and one that we will all at one time or another need to cope with and face at some point. At Everlasting Memories, we deal on a daily basis with an individual who have recently lost loved ones and that is why we believe so strongly in our product. There are many helpful people and time tested ways such as cremation jewelry to pull yourself from the trenches of grief.

Grief by definition is derived from the French word grève which means a heavy burden. Grief encompasses all the emotions and feelings you have when you lose someone close to you or you experience a great loss. When you look at the French meaning, it makes sense as many often feel emotionally as well as physically weighed down and burdened in sadness when experiencing some sort of loss.

The physical loss is a feeling that you experience immediately as obviously the person is no longer a part of your life. The emotional and mental loss down the road is the one that often takes the longest to get over. All of a sudden, you’re realizing that not only is your loved one not there in person but they’re not there when you’ve had a bad day at work and they were the one you always turned to. Your daughter gets married and her father is not there to give her away. You have your first child and your mother is not there to see her daughter give birth. Major life changes and celebrations can renew the sadness that you had made some peace with. Everlasting Memories can help by providing beautiful cremation pendants that can help celebrate the life of those can’t be with you during these special moments.

In some ways, you may never fully get over the loss of a loved one. As stated, there will always be events and happenings in your life that will bring to light their memory. The pain and sorrow associated with losing them, however, will most likely ease with time. Most people go through typical stages of grief but there is no right or wrong way to mourn the loss of a loved one. The stages of grief usually follow the pattern of denial, anger, bargaining, depression and finally acceptance. Having a lovely cremation pendant that is filled with an honor of your loved one may be very instrumental in helping you not only deal with your grief but also move forward.

This is not to say that every person follows these five steps and grieves in each step for a certain amount of time. No two individuals are alike and no experience of loss is alike with two people. There is no defined science on how to grieve for a loved one. Being aware of the general steps you will go through when experiencing a loss may aid you in recognizing where you are and realizing that you are not alone with your feelings and your sorrow.

It is so important to have a good support system when you have lost someone you loved. These are the people that you can lean on and talk to and they’ll be there just to listen. Turn to friends and family for support and understanding. Faith is also instrumental for many in helping them come to terms with the loss of a loved one. Finally, having a tangible reminder of your loved one that you can reach up and touch will often times ease a tremendous amount of pain and bring some peace. Everlasting Memories is a wonderful resource and can provide funeral jewelry that will help you to create a lasting memory.
