The Bosch American-style fridge freezers easily cope with the demands of a large family. The two models available in the Bosch range feature an in-door ice and chilled water dispenser and give the choice of chilled water, ice cubes or crushed ice. There is a 6m hose included to plumb-in the dispenser that includes a water filter that will last for up to six months.

They are both 91cm in height and they are both rated as A class for energy efficiency, which is the best rating available under the EU award scheme, and is supported by Her Majesty’s Government. Higher rated energy efficient products help to reduce waste and save money by using energy more efficiently.

Both models also have Frost Free technology, which means that there will be no more need for defrosting the fridge freezer as the Frost Free eliminates the formation of ice on food and on the freezer interior and keeps the freezer working more efficiently.

The fact that these two Bosch American fridge freezers have a high energy efficiency rating does not just mean that they will save money, but they are also better for the environment because they waste less energy. Another way that these two fridge freezers are better for the environment is the fact that they produce zero CFCs (Chloro Fluoro Carbons) that deplete the ozone layer and HFCs (Hydro Fluoro Carbons) that have been linked to global warming. The appliances are completely CFC & HFC free so they prevent damage to the ozone layer and does not contribute to the Greenhouse effect.

Both models available in the Bosch American fridge freezer have almost exactly the same specifications. The main difference between the two is the finish. The KAN58A50 model has a sleek, gloss black finish whereas the very similar KAN58A40 model has an authentic stainless steel look and a fingerprint resistant finish.

The Bosch American fridge freezers have a gross capacity of 541 litres. The fridge net capacity is 334 litres in both models and the freezer net capacity is 170 litres in both models. The American-style fridge freezers are not designed for single households, but are great for large families.

I mentioned earlier about the energy efficiency rating and how much money it can save on energy bills. Both of these models cost around £52 per year to run, which is not that bad considering the size of the fridge freezer.

From a convenience point of view, the all round magnetic door seal on the Bosch American fridge freezers is removable for easy cleaning and replacement and there is a child lock setting on the electronic controls for safety. The door accessories are also all removable so there is more choice available regarding the layout of the fridge freezer.
