Overlooking the Gulf of Valencia on one side, with clusters of mountains and rolling plains on the other side. It is the largest of the three provinces that make up the community known as Valencia. Valencia has a lot to offer tourists to its shores from natural beauty to a rich history and culture.

The city of Valencia was occupied by the Romans, Greeks, Visigoths and Muslims, as well as the Iberian inhabitants of the land. All of these inhabitants have left there remains in the city although the Roman and Muslim influences were strongest. The old quarter of Valencia contains some of the old wall that once surrounded the city. The districts of Seu and Xerea are well worth a visit as they are where the majority of the artistic heritage of the city is found. It contains Roman remains, Muslim ruins, as well as modern churches and stunning palaces.

The cathedral combines Gothic, Baroque and Neo-classical architectural styles and is worth a visit. The building has three portals one to suit each style of architecture. The Torres de Serranos, the ancient Gothic city gates of Valencia that date back to the fourteenth century, are interesting to see. Valencia is truly a seaport Mediterranean city with its beautiful beaches and mountains. There are many little towns along the coast that you can visit. The beaches, particularly to the south of the city often have recreational facilities attached to them. There are many green nature reserves in this part of the city as well.

Valencia hosts many art projects, different cultural events and a number of annual festivals. There are many restaurants along the coastline and the rich culinary experience will not disappoint you. The area was the birthplace of paella and this is a perfect opportunity to try the dish. The nightlife in the city is famous throughout Spain. It has many unique culture influences and a night out on the town will definitely give you a feel for this city. There are many fiestas in Valencia throughout the year, but Las Fallas is the most well-known fiesta and it is not to be missed if you are in the city at the time it is on.

There are a number of accommodation options to suit any style and budget. Valencia has approximately one hundred hotels, fifty hostels, 420 apartments, thirty five camping grounds and two spa resorts. These can be found with varying levels of quality and in varying areas of the city. Primarily, you will need to decide if you want to be located near the beach or near the attractions in the city and choose your accommodation accordingly. Then, you will need to look at your budget and decide which form of accommodation will suit your purse strings. If you are in a larger group, you may choose to stay in a rental apartment.; or it is possible that a hostel may suit your needs best. Whatever you choose, Valencia is a great location.
